The Brewer’s Art

Housed in a building originally built in 1903, this Mt. Vernon establishment is well known for its Resurrection brown ale, which can be found on tap throughout the city, and is brewed on-site. Patrons can visit the upstairs bar or the dim cellar downstairs; the latter is certain to be one of the more memorable bar spaces you will encounter in this or any city.

The Owl Bar

Also located in Mt. Vernon, The Owl Bar is found in the historic Belvedere Hotel, and has functioned as a bar since 1903. The bar gets its name from the owl on the wall that let Prohibition-era patrons know that booze was in stock and there were no prying eyes around to keep them from imbibing.

Max’s Taphouse

On the corner of Broadway and Lancaster down in Fells Point is a beer drinker’s delight. Max’s Taphouse has more than 100 different drafts on tap, and an additional 2,000 bottles to choose from. Max’s also averages one beer debut a week, and hosts a number of events throughout the year.

Birds of a Feather

Another well-known Fells Point establishment, Birds of a Feather has the Scotch market cornered. The Scotch list numbers 130, and is color-coded by region. If you are looking for an especially strong malt, look for the Scothes in red lettering.

Wit & Wisdom

Wit & Wisdom makes its home in the Four Seasons Hotel Baltimore in Harbor East. For a diverse cocktail list in a trendy spot, visitors to Baltimore will love Wit & Wisdom. It does not hurt that Wit & Wisdom also offers a breathtaking view of the Inner Harbor.

Annabel Lee Tavern

Head over to Canton to visit the bar that pays homage to Baltimore’s best-known literary figure, Edgar Allen Poe. With Poe-themed cocktails and beers on tap, we are sure you will not be saying nevermore to another drink.
