How to Get Paid for Focus Groups

Getting paid to participate in a focus group is a fast, easy way to make some extra money. Too good to be true? It’s not, but if you’re like most people, you might have a few questions before you jump headfirst into the world of focus groups. There are plenty of ways of earning money that claim to be simple, but don’t actually deliver on their promise. However, focus groups are a legitimate method for earning some extra money quickly and easily. Read on to learn about focus groups, how you can make money, and where you can participate.

What is a Focus Group?

You can read our blog post  for a more in-depth look at focus groups, but the basic idea is pretty simple. Focus groups are a qualitative research method used by businesses to gain insight into their consumer base. A business may use a focus group to get ideas for a new product or marketing campaign. Participants are recruited based on certain traits that a business is looking for. For example, if the business is a clothing chain whose chief demographic is young adults, it may seek young adults in the area who frequently shop at clothing stores. The group is usually made up of no more than 10 people and one moderator, who guides the discussion and encourages conversation relevant to the research being conducted. Once the group is finished, the participants are paid for their time and the business uses the information gained to further their research and objective.
