Who Is Excited For The Start Of Baseball Season?

With baseball’s Opening Day right around the corner, we thought it would be a great time to check in with Baltimore residents on all things baseball for our latest installment of the Voice of Baltimore. Here are some of the most interesting findings from our Baltimore research.

Overall, 44% of participants surveyed are excited for the 2015 baseball season!

Of the 425 participants surveyed, the majority are Baltimore Orioles fans (81%) followed by New York Yankees fans (12%) and Washington National fans (5%).

Among Orioles fans, Adam Jones is the favorite player (33%). Manny Machado (14%) and Chris Davis (14%) tied for second and J.J. Hardy was third (8%).

Only four Orioles fans surveyed report attending all 81 home games. Of those surveyed, 58% attend less than 10 home games, 27% attend 10-30 home games, and 3% attend 30-50 home games in a given season.

Opening Day has been attended by 55% of those surveyed.

While it is no surprise that the actual game is the number one reason to attend a game (62%), the fan atmosphere is the second reason people enjoy attending a game (54%), followed by the stadium food and drink (25%), and people watching (21%).
